1. What do you see as the biggest blocker when tackling vulnerability in the UK?
A: Frankly, government. Right now we have the energy crisis / cost of living crisis which is not going to get better anytime soon (I know first hand given I'm setting up an energy company!), and therefore the only way that energy bills (which is driving inflation and cost of living) are going to be reduced and made affordable is government intervention. But it would seem that the government are dragging their heels and / or not interested.
2. What one piece of advice would you give to a company that is trying to improve their support for vulnerable customers?
A: Probably a pretty typical answer but don't make assumptions, keep an open mind, and push as hard as you can to help those that need it the most (i.e. at the expense of the bottom line, if needed).
3. What is the most common type of vulnerability you are seeing in your industry?
A: Quite an obviously one but being unable to pay their energy bills because of the energy / cost of living crisis. And linked to that, so many people worrying and stressing, causing massive mental health issues as they have no idea how they will pay the bills this winter.
4. Without giving too much away, what two things will delegates learn from your session?
A: With all the doom and gloom at the moment, I hope people take away the following:
